Description

Apollo is a 16-hh APSL-registered Lusitano imported gelding who is eight years old. He has gone through extensive training at the ranch and is now ready for his next adventure! He has a sweet, biddable personality and drive to work. He's sensitive, sane, and sensible. Apollo is a barn favorite who learns new skills fast and does collected and lateral work with ease. He gets along with others and resides outside in a herd of more than 40 horses. Clips, takes a bath, loads, and is a joy to be around. At this time Apollo has taken some time off from the dressage world, but previously trained up through third level dressage. Apollo was placed in a program to be trained from the ground up using natural horsemanship methods. You will not find a more pleasant horse on the ground. He respects space, ties well in aisles, doesn't crowd, and is extremely well desensitized. He's used to riding around moving vehicles, children, dogs, out on the trail, and has liberty training. Apollo came to us in 2020 with severe behavioral problems related to an infection he acquired after he was gelded. With two years of professional work and a kind, compassionate team looking after his care, he's completely reformed and is ready to resume his dressage career. Because this horse is special to us, we want an ideal home rather than a hasty one. Apollo was imported in 2019 from Lisbon, Portugal and has an exceptional pedigree that makes him suitable for both dressage and training under saddle work. In the United States, it is challenging to locate horses with this caliber and disposition. This horse is located in WNY, and we can ship anywhere. He is ready to start his full time show career and will make someone a very special partner. Apollo's potential is limitless. He'd make an ideal mount for someone looking to do amateur dressage, and would be an easy horse to move up through the levels with. He'd also make an ideal working equitation or western dressage candidate. Clean x-rays taken in 2020. We are willing to negotiate the price to get this boy the best possible home. He needs consistent, level work with a kind, understanding rider who will let him shine. He is ready for a SPORT job and is not suited for a home with only trails.
